Junior Coaching

Grammar Tennis run lessons for all junior regardless of their age and ability. New players are graded and placed into lessons with players whom are a similar age, ability and commitment level towards tennis. All new players are offered a FREE TRIAL for them to come in and try one of our classes to ensure that it is a suitable class for them.

The Tennis Hot Shots program is designed to teach the kids important skills so they can play the game from a young age so they develop a love for the game. The program uses smaller courts, lighter racquets and low compression tennis balls that don’t bounce too high and move slower, making learning tennis fun, safe and easy for kids.

Grammar Tennis run various levels of junior group coaching and players are grouped according to their level, age, size and commitment to tennis. Capping group lessons to one coach per six players, allows are to ensure we spend enough time with every student to help them develop as good young tennis players and people.

Once players graduate from our coloured ball pathway, they move into our yellow and challenger squads. These lessons are for our teenage age players who want to play once or twice a week with their friends. As well as working on their technique and basic tactics, in these lessons an emphasis is put on fun and engagement rather than serious and overly competitive.

Coloured Ball Squads

Our Red, Orange and Green Squads are for more committed, capable young players who would like to take their tennis a little bit more seriously (in a fun way of course) and want start competing in competitions.

Entry into these squad programs is by invitation only.

Yellow Ball Squads

Our yellow ball performance squads are for dedicated tournament players. For players of a high state and national standard, these sessions are for players who want to train hard and work on the technical, tactical and psychological areas of their game in order to achieve their goals.

Sessions are 1 ½ hours of high intensity on-court training. Each session also includes 45 minutes of athletic development in order to make players faster, stronger and more powerful athletes.

Private lessons are for beginners to advanced players and are tailored to the needs of each individual. Whether it’s working on a players technical, tactical or mental game, private lessons are a great way to fast-track improvement in a 1 on 1 setting. Our coaches work on enhancing a player’s strengths and improving their weaknesses making them an all-round, skilful tennis player.

During SCGS PE times, our team of coaches run a four week program with all primary school aged year levels. Tennis is also a year-round option for students to select during Thursday (year 4 – 6) and Friday (years 1 – 3) school sport programs.
